agency

While Reading

One of 4 artworks created during 6 month residency at Islington Museum, inspired by Orton & Halliwell Collaged book jackets.

This is a video, embedded into a book, hidden in a library. How do different places invoke certain behaviours? And how did Orton & Halliwell manage to subvert this within the library setting? I wanted to create a connection between their history and contemporary culture, through playing with the idea of ‘hacking' as a method of cutting and technological subversion. What does 'hacking' an image or text say about ownership and personal agency?
